This illustration began as an oil painting I made in high school.
Over 20 years later, I revisited the idea and recreated it as a digital illustration—expanding the scene, refining the characters, and adding light, color, and atmosphere.
The post includes the original painting alongside several stages of the new version: sketch, an early color pass, and the final illustration.
It's always a nostalgic pleasure to revisit old ideas and see out how I'd approach them today.
